Redkacheek's Playbook: 2025 Truist Championship
Going to keep this pretty short-and-sweet for the Truist. I did walk through a lot of my thought process and assumptions of the golf course in this video on Tuesday, also running DrivingIQ and ApproachIQ: https://www.fantasygolfbag.com/blog/2025-truist-championship-iq-tools-workshop-3be292f5
Course Preview
Let me outline my overall course assumptions briefly. The course should play pretty easy. I think it looks phenomenal, I would go play it in a heartbeat...it looks fun. But these guys are good, the course is not long overall, aside from the Par 5s they are playing as Par 4s and the 2 longish Par 3s. Otherwise this is going to be a wedge fest. and that's a little frustrating. I also know how the Tour "eases" into debut courses, they always side on the easier side. My initial estimate was -12 to -15 but with the rumors circulating that my stance isn't much of a hot take, Potentially -15 to -18 is the winning score. We should get a pretty good idea quickly on Thursday what the scores will look like.
So for DrivingIQ and ApproachIQ, since we don't have historical data, I went through this myself by hand going through the yardage book for each hole. This is where I landed. It's probably not spot on, a few driving holes landed right on a bucket threshold, but this at least gives us an edge against others who are flying blind running aggregations of OTT, APP, ARG and bentgrass putting. Here are the breakouts:
I primarily used these buckets to build the course fit ComboIQ sheet. I am going to use this for my hand-built lineups, and will run projections/ownership/sims for MME. This will hopefully allow me to gravitate to my absolute best plays, but then add some contrarian plays by just using our FGB Projections with Ownership.
